Alphabet Dating Series- Letter A: Art, Asian Appetizers, Action Film, and Apple Pie!

My DH and I have decided to begin an Alphabet Dating Series. We have been inspired by Kaitlyn over at Wifessonals to make our summer/fall amazing! With the upcoming move,  the craziness of life, and the busyness of finishing up the school year we needed some fun to keep our relationship strong (and a priority).  Throughout the summer, we will go through the Alphabet creating themed dates! We will do one or more things related to a specific letter of the alphabet. There are no cost requirements; the dates can be $0.00, $100.00, or whatever (Of course only if the money is available)! We will also take turns the planning dates and will post them on here to share!

For the letter 'A', I planned our date around an Art Activity! We went downtown to Margie's Art Glass Studio and painted pottery! After that, we went out for Asian Appetizers at a Thai restaurant in town! Once we were finished, we went home and watched an Action/romance film, Top Gun. During our movie we had a lovely dessert: Apple pie! Here are some photos from our date:

Tada!!! Here is my creation:

We left the plates at the store to be glazed and then picked them up the following week.

Here are the final products:

The next Activity was our Appetizer meal! We love Thai food so we decided to hit up the best (and only) Thai place in town! YES it was the middle of April. YES it was snowing. Typical ND. We got two Appetizers and then HAD to share an order of Pad Thai as our third Appetizer because we love it so much!

For the last portion of our date we went home and watched an Action/Romance film, Top Gun. To top it all off we shared a mini Apple pie for dessert!

Overall, we had an Absolutely Amazing 'A' date! It was so much fun and we can't wait to continue through the Alphabet!! Be watching for another post in the near future about our letter 'B' date that happened in May!

We have news......

We're moving!! Last month, we received orders to PSC to FL. Busy Wife Life is going from SNOW to SAND! I am beyond excited for the move! Stay posted as I am sure I will be sharing the ups and downs of moving!! My mind is currently buzzing with thoughts on moving, packing, garage sales, the route we will drive to get down there (I'm thinking Minneapolis, Chicago, Nashville, Savannah, FL), buying a house, going to the beach!!! Ahh! Can you feel my excitement? I am very sad to be moving far away from my family but we will be within (7-10 hours) of some of the DH's family. What an amazing adventure this will be! Thank you to the Air Force for this amazing opportunity. This is one of those days where I am feeling great about being a military wife. For quite some time now, we had both been feeling God tell us that our time in ND was almost over. Little did we know what He had planned for us! I cannot wait for the next chapter of our lives!

Spring has sprung!!

Spring has finally arrived in ND and I am so happy! The DH and I went on a lovely stroll tonight in the 54 degree weather and it felt great!!! It's till coat weather but I won't complain.

Here we are looking all matchy-matchy on our walk! We had a great time!

In an attempt to get ready for summer I have decided to join Tone It Up's Bikini Series! I am ready to get swimsuit ready. I have paired my current morning run/toning session with a daily (or almost daily depending on the level of soreness) TIU workout (or workouts!!). So far I am loving it and am feeling great!!
Here are a few photos showing what I have been up to:

How are you getting ready for summer?

I'm back, how come spring isn't?

Alright, so it has been a while! We are currently fighting a very long winter! This is the winter that never ends, I mean, we had a snow storm last weekend (April 14th)! I am so ready for spring but here I sit waiting for the frozen tundra to slowly warm up. We all know that 'April showers bring May flowers'.. but what does April snow bring??

Anyways, we decided to do something we have been wanting to do for a long time! We finally purchased a Berkey water filter!! We filled it this morning and will have awesome HEALTHY drinking water free of chemicals and fluoride! I cannot tell you how happy we are! We have made a large investment in our health this year! Along with the Berkey. We have purchased a VitamixHurom Slow Juicer, and an Excalibur Dehydrator. I feel so blessed to have spent this past year working so that we could invest this time and money into our health! I have also begun a new gym regimen everyday at 5am. I will admit that it hasn't always been pretty but it has been such a necessary step! I can no longer make excuses to miss the gym because it is the first thing I do everyday! I am currently running 14/20 minutes and will continue to update you as that journey unfolds!

I have not been spending too much time knitting or crocheting lately (I do have one project in the works; I will post some photos soon!!) but I have spent some time in the kitchen!! Here are some of my most recent creations:

S'more Cupcakes!
A basic white cupcake made with vanilla cream cheese icing, marshmallows, chocolate chips, and graham cracker bits! Talk about amazing!! Good thing I shared!!!

Yummy green juice. Best way to start your day! I am so blessed to have an awesome hubby who makes me a green juice every morning by the time I get back from the gym!!

A tasty strawberry smoothie thanks to my Vitamix!!

Mmmm pineapple and homemade almond milk (1 cup almonds, 3-4 cups water blended in Vitamix and then strained)! :)

A few weeks back we made homemade sushi with some great friends (I'll admit it, they did most of the work!!).

And finally, here are a couple of photos from about a month or ago. As you can tell by my DH's face in the photo we were so sick of the ridiculous amounts of snow but were trying to make the best of it!! Thankfully, we do not have nearly this much snow anymore, but boy am I ready for spring!!

The DH looking super pleased!! - haha

The snow bank is almost as tall as me!! Let's face it, that isn't a huge feat but I am 5'4"!!

Can you find our sidewalk?

So this has been a little update of our life right now. On a very bright note, just over a month left of school before summer holidays! Now let's bring spring to ND so that summer can make its way!!!

Most Recently Completed Projects :)

Hello Blog World! I said that I would post yesterday but my Monday turned out to be CRAZY. So here I am tonight! I finally have time to post a couple photos of my most recent projects. Living in ND results in COLD winters (yuck!!). So of course I need a nice collection of scarves to match every outfit. This fall I have been building my collection!

The final project!! :) I love it!
First is a scarf I knit to match my black and blue winter jacket. I thought it turned out pretty great!
Knitting needles and coffee = a wonderful sunday!
You can find the pattern here. I wanted my scarf a bit wider than the pattern called for so I improvised and added more rows!

The next scarf is a quick Saturday crochet project I saw on Pinterest. You can find the link here! I love this scarf! The cream color goes with many things! It is not the warmest though so it is definitely an accent piece!

Well, that's all for today. I'll be posting a photo of my latest project soon! Hope all is well in cyber space! :) I'll leave you with a photo of my lovely Halloween Decor!

Projects from the Old Days

Well, for my first official post, I am going to document some of my past knitting and crocheting projects. Over the years, I have enjoyed knitting and crocheting as a way to pass time (and avoid snacks!!). I have recently developed a strong passion for knitting and crocheting and have many dream projects on the way!! Here are some of the projects I have made for myself and friends along the way.

First, one of my crocheting projects. This large afghan has seen better days but has been through a lot with me.

I am not sure where the pattern is otherwise
I would give credit where credit is due...
Next, is a baby blanket for a close friend's little girl who had a Winnie the Pooh theme in her room. I love the yellow and the reversible squares in the pattern. The pattern for this blanket can be found here!

The whole blanket.
A close up of the squares!

Tomorrow, I will be posting some of my more current projects (SCARVES!!)!!!

Welcome to my Busy Life!!

Well, I did it! I finally entered the blogging world (no looking back, right?!). A few things about me: I am a Christ follower, a Canadian, a speech-language pathologist, and a wife. I love reading, cooking, crafting, and spending time with my loved ones. On August 5th, 2011, I married my DH (dear husband) and am now one of many military wives across the USA. We currently call cold, cold ND our home. This is where I plan to document our busy life. No matter where the military sends us, our family and friends can use this blog to stay in touch. I also hope to use this blog to share my passions for knitting, crocheting, photography, and cooking (to name a few). I will use this blog to document many of my projects and how I grow as an artist, a wife, and a Christian. Please leave comments whether you are family, friends, or strangers, I'd love to hear from you! (Note: this is my happy place and there is no room for negativity here, any comments deemed by me to be inappropriate will be removed from the blog).

Here is my DH and I on our wedding day: August 5th, 2011 :)
